ID - Redesigned Business Cards
It can sometimes take a while to get around to personal projects. I'd been meaning for a while to redesign my business cards. I wanted something cool, but simplistic. I realized some time ago that having my address on my cards was totally meaningless - no one ever used it. So, when I looked to redesign the card I decided to cut back on everything that wasn't necessary.
90 percent of my business comes from referrals so I didn't have a need to make my card a billboard advertisement. People generally know what I do. Even new or potential clients can log onto my website and view some of my work (my web address made the cut and is on the card).
More Than the Art
A lot of emphasis is placed on the design of a card. But just as important to its overall effectiveness is the paper it's printed on. My cards are printed on Starbrite Flash Perlescent paper. The slight texture and luminosity of the paper make them glow.
Ink is also important. One side of the card (name, phone etc) uses pantone 8100C, which is a light metallic purple that plays perfectly with the perlescent paper.
The cut corner is simple but eye catching. I originally thought of using rounded corners but the cut corner "just felt right."
It may be just a business card. But first impressions that make an impact are remembered and they tell the person receiving them that you take what you do seriously.
